Zhongshan Charity Walk 2024

"We walk with you, out of the desert, into the shade, towards spring, at dawn..." Whenever the melody of "We Walk with Love" is played, it can always evoke exclusive memories belonging to Zhongshan people. This 10,000-person charity parade has the theme of "Charity Zhongshan, Walking with Love" and is divided into three major chapters: "Strive forward on a new journey", "Build a charity dream together" and "Fraternity fills the world". This year's Charity Walk received a total of 152 million yuan in donations from the Red Cross at the city, town and street levels, and the amount of donations raised exceeded the previous record. This year, the donations raised by the 10,000 People’s Walk will be mainly used in three areas: the construction of senior citizens’ canteens in Zhongshan City, carrying out rescue and disaster relief, rescue and humanitarian assistance and other related work and the development of Red Cross undertakings, as well as for other charitable and public welfare projects in the city in accordance with the law.

On the morning of February 24, the “Zhongshan Charity Walk of Ten Thousand People to Support the Hundreds, Thousands and Ten-Thousand Projects” parade (hereinafter referred to as the “Charity Walk of Ten Thousand People”) was officially launched. More than 15,000 people, more than 300 parade teams, and theatrical and folk art performance teams participated in the parade starting from the east and west sides of Xingzhong Road. In order to reward groups and individuals who actively participate in charity, the 2023 Zhongshan Charity Medal Golden Chrysanthemum Award was also awarded during the event. Hu Zhirong, a sage from Zhongshan, lamented: “Whether a place is good or not depends on how well its charity is done.”

It is reported that the "Zhongshan Charity Walk" has gone through 37 years and is by far the longest charity event for thousands of people in the country. It has raised a total of more than 2 billion yuan in donations and funded more than 100 public welfare projects. This year, all sectors of society enthusiastically donated money. The Red Cross societies at the city, town and street levels pledged a total of 152 million yuan in donations, and the amount of charity raised reached a record high.
